This week’s segment from our #SpeedbowlDocSeries highlights the colorful career of Flyin’ Brian McCarthy, arguably one of the most entertaining competitors in the history of The Speedbowl. As you can tell in his interview, he still has that sure-fire cockiness. There’s plenty of references to racing sideways & firesuits, plus great stories about how McCarthy got started behind the wheel, thanks to a bet Albert Gaudreau made in Big Mike Daignault’s shop one day, plus additional recollections from Tom Fox, Joe Golas, Bob Freeman, Don Fowler, Tony Leckey, Steve Kennedy. Ed Flemke Jr, Philip Rondeau, Dan & Wayne Korteweg and Phil Smith.
On a behind-the-scenes note, I always try to incorporate the music in a way that will lure the viewer into the story… and the way the intro to this music coincides with McCarthy talking about trading paint is one of my favorites!
