Rookies of the Year have been awarded at the Speedbowl since the late 1950’s. The earliest one we could verify went to NEAR Hall of Famer Billy Harman for the Modified division back in 1959. Generally, the rookie with the most championship points recieves the ROY honors, and while we haven’t been able to verify them all yet, we believe it’s been given out every year in most divisions. With a few exceptions, when it wasn’t given out due to lack of eligible drivers, the Rookie of the Year has been given out for every Saturday point division since 1986 and every Wednesday division since 2004.
