Hailing from Deep River, CT, Danny Field started racing at the Speedbowl in 1989 when he won Rookie of the Year honors in the Late Model division. He competed throughout the 1990’s, finishing a career-best 7th in Late Model points in 1995 but a feature win always eluded him.

He returned to the Speedbowl in the early 2000’s as a Mini Stock competitor where he would have a decade of success in the 4-cylinder division. Starting in 2002 when he won 2 races, Field would go on to win 28 races from 2002-2010, more than any other competitor during that 9-season span. Field won the 50 lap Mini Stock portion of the Pepsi 300 3 times. He also led the division in wins in both 2006 (4) and 2009 (5).
He won 3 Mini Stock Championships in 2005, 2006 and 2009, tying only Bruce Thomas at the time for the most in the division’s history. Field also finished runner-up to the title in 2007 and 2010, both times to Ken Cassidy Jr. Field and Cassidy hard arguably the best rivalry in Mini Stock history during that era.

Danny would take some seasons off from Waterford and went on to win Mini Stock Championships at Thompson Speedway (2008, 2011) on the Northeast Mini Stock Tour (2012). Sadly, Danny Field passed away after battling cancer on May 7, 2014 a month shy of his 57th birthday. He is widely considered one of the greatest Mini Stock drivers in southern New England.
