Howard “Jiggs” Beetham won races as driver, car owner and engine builder for over 30 years at the Waterford Speedbowl. He started winning races in the early days of the old Daredevil division. He won 12 races from 1966-1968, leading the division with 6 wins in 1967. He finished runner-up to Bill Sweet in the final standing in both 1967 and 1968.
In the 1970’s Jiggs was known for his beautifully prepared #18 Modifieds that were dubbed “Golden Hurricane”. His lone win at the Speedbowl in a Modified came on August 21, 1971. He finished 4th in the championship points that season.

In the 1980’s Jiggs paired up with Bob Potter and together with Dan Coleman & Fred Doolittle won back-to-back SK Modified Championships in 1986-1987, winning 12 total races and leading the division in wins both years.
In the 1990’s Jiggs & Potter won 5 SK Modified championships together at Stafford Speedway. Jiggs continued for many years as an engine builder for several Speedbowl competitors. Jiggs Beetham sadly passed away unexpectedly on December 20, 2024. He was 81 years old
