Dave Gada was born into racing and was the 6th member of his family to win a race at the Speedbowl. Like his 3 brothers, he started out in the Super Stock division, winning 5 races from 1983-1986.

He moved on to the SK Modifieds in 1986, winning Rookie of the Year honors and finishing 8th in points. He hit his stride in 1989, winning 3 big races – a 50 lapper on July 4th weekend, the Mid-Season Championship 100 later that month and the Waterford 200 in October. Then in 1990 Dave won the SK Modified Championship, becoming the youngest SK Modified champion at the time and the first driver to join his father as a Speedbowl Champion. His younger brother Dennis finished runner-up to the title.

Dave Gada continued to win extra-distance events throughout the 1990’s, including the Chill Out 60 in 1991, Blast Off 92 and the Waterford 150 in 1992. Then in 1994, he won his 2nd SK Modified Championship, this time with his older brother Mike finishing runner-up. Dave won 13 SK Modified races at the Speedbowl from 1989-1996.
Gada competed for most of his career in home built cars out of the Gada family race shop in Niantic. He competed occasionally into the early 2000’s before quietly calling it a career. He has been the car owner & crew chief for his son Adam at the Speedbowl since the late 2000’s.
