Ron Yuhas Jr is the son of former car owner Ron Yuhas and was a standout in quarter midgets as a young kid. He then took some time off from racing to play high school baseball. He returned to racing in 1998 at 21 years old to race in the SK Modifieds. His first full season was the following year, which he capped off by winning the Finale SK 100 – his first career win.

Yuhas rapidly became a consistent winner, never finishing worse than 5th in points from 2000-2005. His runner-up finish to Rob Summers for the 2005 SK Modified Championship is noteworthy as the only season in Speedbowl history that competitors were allowed to drop their two worst finishes.

Ron won 17 more SK Modified races at Waterford in his green #6, with 5 of them being 100 lappers. He won the Finale SK 100 3 straight times (1999-2001) and the 100 lap SK portion of the Pepsi 300 twice (2002, 2005). Only Dennis Gada had more SK Modified wins at Waterford from 1999-2005 than Ron Yuhas Jr. His family team then left the Speedbowl to race on the NASCAR Modified Tour in 2006-2007.

However in the middle of 2007, Ron returned to the Speedbowl driving Mike Sangermano’s #96 Late Model. In 2008, he raced full time in the Late Model and also Mike Murphy’s #4 SK Modified, winning in both divisions that year.

Driving for Murphy, Yuhas won the SK Modified Championship in 2009 and 7 races from 2008-2010, including the $5,000 to win Budweiser Modified Nationals SK 150 in 2010. It turned out to be his last Speedbowl victory. Always a consistent runner, in the 9 full seasons he ran in the SK Modifieds between 2000-2005 and 2008-2010, he never finished out of the Top 5 in points.

Yuhas & Murphy left the Speedbowl to compete on the NASCAR Modified Tour full-time in 2011.
