Christopher “Moose” Douton was one of the early stars of the Sunday Stock Series in the early 1990’s, leading the division in wins in 1993 and 1994. By 1996, the Pure Stocks had been dissolved and Moose moved on to the Strictly Stock division.

He hooked up with car owner Jeff Hedden in 1997 and he quickly became one of the division’s heavy hitters. He took over the points lead in mid-season, then won the last race of the year to clinch the Strictly Stock Championship. They won a 2nd championship together in 1999 after 6 win season. During that time, Moose had an entertaining rivalry with Corey Hutchings.

Douton moved to the Late Models in 2000. He won 4 times in his rookie campaign, including two 100 lappers, but lost Rookie of the Year honors to Hutchings, who also moved up to the division. During Finale Weekend that season, Douton won both the 100 lap Late Model race and the 50 lap Sportsman race. He won races in both those divisions again on August 11, 2001.
He won 7 Late Model races during his career, his last coming in the 2005 season. Moose continued to race in the Street Stock division. His last win coming in 2008, and has continued to compete on an occasional basis into the 2020’s.
