Rob Janovic Jr, known as “The Godfather” around the Speedbowl pit area, won races at the Speedbowl in 2 different divisions over 3 different decades at the shoreline oval.

Rob got his start in the Enduro divisions of the late 1980’s, but it was the mid-1990’s in the Late Model division when he started regularly winning races. He won 7 races in the division from 1996-2001.
He started SK Modified racing in 2000, winning his first race on Sept 16th. After racing just Late Models in 2001, he returned to the SK Modifieds in 2002 and began a streak of 8 consecutive seasons with a win (2002-2009) and as well as winning the 2007 SK Modified Championship after a 3 win season.

Rob has raced a majority of his Speedbowl career with car-owner John Volpe. Known for beautifully prepared #51 cars, the Vojan team was a model of consistency. They finished no worse than 5th in points for 14 consecutive seasons from 2002-2015, including runner-up to Dennis Gada in 2008. Rob was the 2nd driver after Bob Potter to win a race in 20 different Speedbowl seasons.
Janovic has continued to race during the 2020’s, but on a more part-time basis.
